This bulletin provides information and news relating to our thakali community.

As you are all aware, Thakali Research centre, Kathmandu has launched a two-year project to conduct a detailed studies and research on the history, language and culture of Thakalis (Char chan).
Objectives of the study are as follows:
– To write and publish the history of the Thakali Caste
– To translate the ancient literature (Char phya ka prachin haab) so that general population of Thakali can easily understand.
– To compile, archive and publish the ancient texts that explains the religion, culture, customs, economic, social, political, administrative behavior and condition of the Thakali
– To study, research and document the tradition and culture of Thakali
– To prepare Thakali language dictionary and to digitalise
– To research and publish proper grammar studies of Thakali mother tongue
– To study, research and determine necessary steps for conservation of ancient archeological monasteries under Thak Satsaya
– To provide training and awareness to young generation about thakali cultures and heritages for its continuity and vitality throughout the future
– Research and produce Thakali language songs which were normally used for different rituals such as Khime related songs, Kumar yatra songs, Kul dewata puja songs etc
Total of one crore and one lakh rupees (Rs 1,01,00,000.00) is estimated to cost for this project, therefore, Thakali Research Centre under the leadership of Mr. Naresh K. Tulachan and his team is seeking to raise the funds among us Thakali members.
